Five years of my Day One Journal books.
You don’t have to be there – The Homebound Symphony
People: you don’t have to “watch the destruction in Los Angeles through the prism of our fractured social-media ecosystem.” Nobody is making you. And it doesn’t do you any good to watch.
But when Twitter became intolerable people decamped first for Mastodon and then Threads and then Bluesky, or went all-in on Instagram. The Twitter habit, it seems, will long survive Twitter.
An important reminder (with some useful suggestions).
This week has been a long month already.
Friday is in March, right?
Took care of the other wall of tile today. Apart from a single tile I’ll need to find a ceramic hole saw for, this part of the project is complete.

Coined by my friend Garrick this morning, a concept I plan to try to practice more of this year…
Unreasonable Optimism.
A defense against the reasonable pessimism I, and I’m sure too many others, feel these days. An intentional striving for a change in perspective.
There are no words I could write that would provide any comfort for what’s happening in Los Angeles right now. Devastating and heartbreaking. Just thankful that the few people I know out there are safe.
