These are two really interesting takes on taking a sabbatical.

My wife and I often joke that we will never truly retire because who we are and what we do for income are so intertwined. I guess that probably goes for sabbaticals too.

Today Beatrix has her last day of back-to-school shopping with her Aunt. Tomorrow will be her last first day of high school.

The next year will be filled with lots of these.

A year of lasts.

Current thought pattern: Almost everything we know about past civilizations we know because of their arts. The architecture, the pottery, the painting, the writing, the mosaics, the jewelry, etc.

Why do the arts matter? Thousands of years from now, it’s the only way we’ll be remembered.

Senior photos were taken of Beatrix last night in The Secret Garden, an incredible private garden in our neighborhood (owned and maintained by friends). Beatrix has loved it since childhood. Many fond memories made here and now we’ve added another.
