Ten days into her college life and this young lady is doing great! She’s made lots of friends, loves her classes and professors, and spends Sundays in The City with friends eating and shopping and seeing shows (today it’s Heathers). So darn happy and proud of her.

More Small Project Week progress…

This floating shelf in the library was sagging forward. It’s straight now (sorry, no “before” photo):

Also, cleaned and reorganized the 3rd and final spice drawer (the worst of the bunch). Here’s a split before and after:

More Small Project Week progress:

  • Cutting, conditioning, and replacing the built-in cutting board (before on the right, after on the left).
  • Hanging this “non fumeur” sign that has been kicking around loosely placed in the kitchen for years.

Starting off Small Project Week by beginning a reorganization of our spice drawers…

Before: a mess where you couldn’t see what you have and had to dig around to find anything you needed.

After: Much better. Easy to see what you have.

It all happened…

Despite the weather (it was pouring rain on move-in day). Despite the chaos (due to many factors). Despite not really getting the goodbye we wanted (everything was rushed). Beatrix moved into college and so far is settling in very well.

I’m trying to settle into my new life too.

My sister is doing some research on our family at The Library of Congress and came across some of my Great Grandfather’s papers. Mixed within was this art masterpiece by the famed 3 year old poet and print artist Patrick Rhone.

Beatrix on the banner for this year's summer show at Circus Juventas

Beatrix is on the banner for this year’s summer show at Circus Juventas, Whimsy. There are still tickets available. So, if you’re local you should come see Beatrix in her final circus performances before she heads off to college.

Reaching and walking across the Mississippi Headwaters. I’ve now seen the very beginning and very end of the mighty Mississippi. Bucket list item achieved!

Me at the market for the headwaters of The Mississippi River.
