You Have Permission To Do Nothing
The real work of writing is thinking. And to someone outside of yourself, thinking may appear to be doing nothing. Cultivate that impression. Turn “lazy bum” into “working all the time.”

The first thing I do is think very deeply about what I wish to say and how. It does not look very much like writing. It looks a whole lot more like being distracted and disconnected from everything happening around me. It is a very different state than my normal one, in which I strive for mindfulness.
