However, in 2010 I don’t believe it makes any sense to try to archive bookmarks if you’re not willing to resolve dependencies. Modern websites are a rich gumbo of javascript, CSS, Flash, images and embedded video, and from a user’s perspective an archived copy should behave like the original, no matter what it takes to make that happen.

Gosh, I love Pinboard. Since the inclusion of this feature, I’ve been increasingly wondering if it could be ubiquitous cloud based replacement for Yojimbo. It would take some time and work to move everything but, In many ways, I think it could.

I’m going to say this a plainly as possible. Like any other craft or skill, writing takes regular practice. Often that practice is most effective when guided. If you are a writer, or have plans on becoming one, you need this book.

All writers are aware of the concept of voice, but far too many ignore the first part of that often used phrase: ‘to find your voice’. They either think that it’s inherent in the very act of them writing, or they don’t actively search. And if you don’t look for something, you very rarely find it.

And so it goes that Iain perfectly delivers a subject that I’ve had rattling around in my drafts folder for months. He said it far more eloquently and plainly than I have been able to conjure thus far.

Is this soup social enough? Maybe someone should innovate and give people better ways to share their soup with one another.

On 9 September this year an elderly man calling himself Pierre Le Guennec travelled from his home on the Cote d’Azur to Paris and made his way to the offices of the Picasso Administration, which manages the artist’s legacy, in rue Volney in the second arrondissement.

He was carrying an unremarkable suitcase and was accompanied by his wife who, like him, was in her 70s.

Shown into the office of Claude Picasso, 63, the late painter’s son, who represents the artist’s heirs and estate, he opened the case he was carrying and produced 175 different works he claimed were by Picasso.

Fascinating story and a yet to be solved mystery. If this does not get turned into a major motion picture someday I’d be highly surprised.

The real work of writing is thinking. And to someone outside of yourself, thinking may appear to be doing nothing. Cultivate that impression. Turn “lazy bum” into “working all the time.”

The beauty of a pencil is you don’t need to think about how to use it. It’s instinctive. A five-year-old knows how to use a pencil just as well as a sixty-year-old. The pencil is the great equalizer.
