Travelogue: Day 5

Breakfast of beignets at Cafe du Monde. Bethany and I had drinks at Bacchanal, beer with friends at Zoey Mash, and Oysters on the half at Superior Seafood while Beatrix shopped with my sister. Then, we all met up with my Mom. A really good, fun, day. Heart full.

Travelogue: Day 4, Hazelhurst, MS

Handy Heights. Our family’s ancestral land. Four houses and 116 acres. My sister is in process of restoring it all, homes and trails, starting with our Great Grandparent’s house. So much more to say. I’ll end with visuals for now.

Travelogue Day 3 Food Highlights

  • Brunch at Two Sisters.
  • Great Beer and “Brewplomacy” at Courtyard Brewing.
  • Dinner with my sister at Elysian Bar.

Travelogue: Day 3 Thought

New Orleans, as my daughter’s friends would say, is a whole vibe. The way music fades in and out, smells drift and fleet, and the air crackles with happening. Always happening. No matter the day or time. Even when it’s sleeping it’s alive and I with it.

Travelogue Day 3, Late Morning

Brunch at Court of Two Sisters. Wandering around the French Quarter. Now back at our temporary place before the next adventure (Likely Courtyard Brewery).

Travelogue Day 2, Arrival in New Orleans

The place we rented is perfectly located. Cute and comfortable. Got the bags inside and hit the small art market on Frenchmen and walked around the quarter a bit looking for food. Shrimp Po Boy and a beer for dinner. Tired, but happy.

Need to work on my practice of kindness and non-judgement as I’ve been terrible at it lately. Also, listening; not just hearing. Also, right understanding (which flows from all of that).

Frankly, I’m a Buddhist hot mess right now.
