On the occasion of her 14th Birthday, this is my favorite picture of Beatrix (taken under the Eiffel Tower in Paris in 2016).

Tethered in wide open spaces
And fields that lead for miles
Right into the barrel of a gun
Mendin’ up your fences with my
Horses runnin’ wild
Only broken horses know to run
On repeat.
It is Beatrix’s Birthday today. She shall now be referenced as Beatrix, age 14 on these pages. I made her French toast for breakfast. Reservations booked for a French restaurant tonight.
The teen years are hard but our love for this young lady runs deep.

These days, Hanlon’s razor is about the only way I can make sense of the world.
Had fun yesterday watching the races at the Klondike Sled Dog Derby.



Here’s the thing I’ve never understood about lies…
They take so much extra work. Remembering them. Keeping up with them. Having to back them up with more lies. Ugh!
The truth is SO MUCH easier. It just… Is. Easily backed up with facts and data. No extra work involved.
Starting the morning with a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout named Black Is Beautiful because it’s that kind of vibe around here. I
