This is such a great breakdown on this story. Not that I would expect any less from Gruber. Here is my take on what happened:

1. WSJ gets a tip from hospital.
2. WSJ confirms with multiple sources and records from hospital.
3. WSJ goes to Apple with story.
4. Apple makes deal for exclusive if WSJ does not source and times release to print per Apple’s direction.
5. Voila.

This is the only thing that makes sense to me.
