Boardwalk Empire is an upcoming HBO series from Terence Winter, Emmy Award winning writer of The Sopranos, and director Martin Scorsese. It looks fantastic. I don’t have cable but it might be worth it just for this. 

I seem to be on a “show my system” kick lately so, I thought I would take some time to do some show-&-tell with my beloved Levenger Shirt Pocket Briefcase (which just happens to be on sale right now).

Airplane vs. Zero Hour (widescreen) (via flipflomas)

Proves the fact that the classic film comedy Airplane was a shot by shot send-up of the serious 1957 film, Zero Hour.

There are many cases like this in film. For instance, the 1989 movie Heathers has many shots and plot points with the 1976 film Massacre at Central High. 

Just further proof that few ideas are truly original, especially in Hollywood.

It’s called Terrapower, and it’s different from a standard nuclear reactor. Instead of burning the 1% of uranium-235 found in natural uranium, this reactor burns the other 99%, called uranium-238. You can use all the leftover waste from today’s reactors as fuel. “In terms of fuel this really solves the problem.” He showed a photo of depleted waste uranium in steel cylinders at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Kentucky – the waste at this plant could supply the US energy needs for 200 years (woah!), and filtering seawater for uranium could supply energy for much longer than that.
