Simple, searchable, syncable notes app. It has the simplicity of Notational Velocity and the seamless web app integration of Doris. About the only thing missing is a way to sync it with Notational Velocity too.

Twitterrific 2.0 for iPhone
Michael Mistretta weighs in on Twitteriffic 2.0 for iPhone. Comparing it to the current leader of the Twitter client pack, Tweetie. I think the last line captures the general consensus:
Twitterrific definitely has the looks, but Tweetie still feels better. And that’s all Tweetie ever had going for it.
To quote Steve Jobs, “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

JPG Magazine: Blog: An Exciting Future for JPG

Looks like JPG Magazine has managed to fight it’s way back from the brink of death. Actually, they did in fact flatline and the doctors called the time but they miraculously came back to life with new investors and a promise to publish again. Kind of amazing considering the current state of publishing.
The Walrus » A Beheading in Saudi Arabia
The Walrus » A Beheading in Saudi Arabia
“At 8:55 a.m. on a Monday morning, I arrive at Chop Chop Square for my regular check-in. In the middle is a police car, a yellow van, and the executioner in a crisp white dishdasha. Despite all I’ve learned in the past two weeks, what is about to happen still seems impossible.”
Fascinating and disturbing. You have been warned.

“I know, I know: it’s a little weird for someone running an ad network to block ads. But they’re the enemy! They’re the ones pooping on the beach and ruining the market for everyone. They don’t deserve to make money off me or anyone else.”
This is why Michael is one of my favorite people on the internet. A very thoughtful and well written post that I feel speaks just as well for me as he does for himself.

MUJI USA ONLINE STORE

Modern, understated, Asian minimalism finally available for sale online in the US.
I began my love affair with Muji products while I was in the UK many years ago. Their entry into the US market has been as slow as I have been patient. I can’t even begin to tell you how exited I am by this. I have already ordered the Chronotebook that I have longed for ever since it won the Muji Design Competition last year.
Even though not even half of what Muji sells is available online yet, I expect this to be one of my favorite destinations on the internet.
Google’s Love For Newspapers & How Little They Appreciate It
Google’s Love For Newspapers & How Little They Appreciate It
A deservedly ranty post regarding the Newspaper’s use of Google as a scapegoat for all of their ills. So many choice quotes but this should give you a flavor:
“Get your tech person to change your robots.txt file to say this:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
Done. Do that, you’re outta Google. All your pages will be removed, and you needn’t worry about Google listing the Wall St. Journal at all.
Oh, but you won’t do that.”

I think this is a solid idea that would work well for a lot of people. Especially in this economy.
