To hell with dignity. I’ll leave when the job’s done.

Love itself is a kind of knowing.
Giving the camera to the kid always rewards me with the most interesting photos. They’re always taken with a perspective free of rules and ego.
Ipsum
Ipsum is a journaling app [for iOS] dialed down to what’s essential.
It features a chat-like interface, where all a user has to do is type down what they want to add to their journal and press send, just as they would in Messages or WhatsApp.
The user interface is wonderfully simple and faff-free, but–since there doesn’t seem to be a way to back up, export or sync text written in the app–it’s probably best to think of Ipsum as an ephemeral notebook for disposable jottings, rather than a journal or diary.
This is totally the sort of thing I would have linked to on Minimal Mac back in the day. An interesting and simple approach to a journaling app.

This minute is unapologetically wiped out by the next. This hour is slowly, quietly, sneaking away from us, never to be heard from again. Each breath is a complex blend of somberness, loss, awkward exclusiveness, gratitude, calm, and opportunity.
Busy.
These two.
The ways out.

“The same fights we have over the role of our government now and the size of our government now are the fights they were having. Add the brutality of slavery to that mix as an undercurrent in all of those decisions. So I guess the biggest takeaway is, yes, this election cycle is bizarre. But it’s no more bizarre than the election in 1800, wherein Jefferson accused Adams of being a hermaphrodite and Adams responded by [spreading rumors] that Jefferson died, so Adams would be the only viable candidate. He was counting on news to travel slow! That, weirdly, gives me hope.”
There is so much insight about the repetition of history in this entire interview. Read the whole thing.
